Percussion Ensemble
June 2 - We started with a four-part percussion piece for drums, cowbells, guiro and maracas. Students experimented with all the instruments and played all four different parts. Tomorrow we are going to start with trickier rhythms and more instruments.
June 3 - We moved on to a much more difficult piece and they did a great job! We added bongos and a bass drum. Parents should have received a video with our work today!
June 4 - I am really excited because today we started a piece that we couldn't master in one class! We were working so much I forgot to take a picture!!
June 5 -
Next week we will have class on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 10-11AM. On Friday June 12th we will have a practice from 10:30 - 11:30 and then a performance for parents at 11:30 in the gym at Hoffman.

June 9 - Well... someone forgot her phone and, as a result, there are no pictures today (sorry).
Today we got a new percussion student, he is a great additional to our group! I introduced to new piece called City, I thought the kids might like it and they did (yeah!). We played all the parts and students choose their top three parts, tomorrow we will make final decisions on what are instruments for this piece will be.

June 10 - We made final decisions about our instruments for City... and we added this guy in a blue shirt to play one of the parts as well. It was a fun day!
June 11 - Five of our six members of this group have Orff class right before percussion, so it didn't take us long to go through our transitions. Also we had very few problems to fix, and that gave us some time to try some different percussion instruments and we grooved to some rhythms that we created on our own. It was a fun way to end class today!
