Orff Ensemble
June 2 - In Orff Class we are working on a complicated five-part piece using alto, soprano and bass xylophones. Students tried all the parts and decided which part that they wanted to tackle for this piece. They worked very well, especially considering it was 9 AM on their second day of summer break!
June 3 - Today we refined the beginning of our piece! We are discovering that a shared steady tempo is easier said than done, but they still got it! In fact, they are moving so quickly, I may need to get an additional piece ready to go for them next week!
June 4 - We have learned the entire song! It isn't perfect yet, but it still exciting! Tomorrow we start the hard work of fixing those little trouble spots.
June 5 - Today we finished our first piece, Hey, Hey Jam and started our new piece, Dream. I don't know if we will master our new piece, but it it exciting to have the time and talent to try!
Next week we will have class on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 9-10AM. On Friday June 12th we will have a practice from 10:30 - 11:30 and then a performance for parents at 11:30 in the gym at Hoffman.

June 9 - Well... someone forgot her phone and, as a result, there are no pictures today (sorry). We had a new student today, and he fit in very well! Today we started a new piece, they were not crazy about it - but I think they may warm-up to the idea!
June 10 - Today we mastered our new song! We also switched instruments and parts today. I blew their minds!! Good times ; )
I have to tell you, this is the first Orff group that I have taught that have been able to tackle two songs in one class. Pretty cool experience for me!

June 11 - Today we tackled the tricky task of working on the transitions and fixing our little problems. This is always that last 10% of preparation which is so important and usually sooooo boring. They did a great job of staying focused, I think they are excited to share their pieces with you!
