Drama Ensemble
June 2nd - This was a great 1st day! We did an emotional parade, where we worked on how to express an emotion or feeling by using body language. We also worked on two person skits. Students practiced their skits, received feedback from other students and then presented skill for the class. We videoed taped each skit and sent it to parents!
June 3rd - Another great day! We worked on speaking clearly and simple improvisation. We also worked on skits today, with a different person, I emailed parents the videos. At the end of class we, "stole" skits from a different skit team and tried-on a new skit (pictures below).

June 4 - Today we discussed how to create a character and they came up with some great ones! Tomorrow students will be assigned parts in a program that they will perform for you on Friday June 12... so probably no more videos (until the performance). The videos links below are good examples of characters development, timing and using your body language to express a feeling.
June 5 - Today students received their parts and scripts! They also made some decisions about they characters that they would be playing in their various skits. I have instructed them to NOT purchase anything for our performance, but if they have parental permission they are welcome to bring props and or costumes from home.
Next week we will have class on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 3-4PM. On Friday June 12th we will have a practice from 10:30 - 11:30 and then a performance for parents at 11:30 in the gym at Hoffman.

June 9 - Today we went over the entire script and we chose our props and a few costume pieces! By tomorrow all lines should be memorized, however, I do not think that this will be a difficult task for these kids! No more pictures... we don't want to give away too much details of our skits!
June 10 - Today we worked with props, very simple costumes and with the microphones! We also worked on our transitions and scene changes, tomorrow we will clean-up our rough areas. On Friday, students with long hair should have their hair back in a pony tail(s) - so that we can see their wonderful expressions!
